Fabulous.
I just need to tie a string around my wrist as not to forget. (I think we may be babysitting for some friends tomorrow, and therefore, home). If you need anything before then, give a holler. JB -------------------- Yellow Is Golden

Ahhh. Two weeks without a Colloquium.
<------- Withdrawal... Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but if 1:00 pm Sats is the only time the Professor can make his own class, I will happily rearrange as necessary to be in attendance. I can think of nothing I might be doing that can't be done just as well earlier or later, unless I'm out of town. So, how about a little more discussion on times here? If we can settle on one that's convenient for all, perchance the Colloquiums will become a mainstay. A good place to start might be "frequency". Once a week? Once a month? Might be easier for those of you with lives to plan on monthly. Personally, I've enjoyed them immensely and EQ has done a marvelous job. Let's not allow them to fade into memory, eh? |

Agreed.
About the frequency... Once every 2 week would be great in many ways... first the 'professors' would have the necessary time to prepare something cool... 2 by months seems the right amount of colloqiums to have to 'wait' a bit for them... and not get bored to quickly etc., etc. About the time it is hold... I would really like it if it could be on a week day (well week night)... because every once in a while I have to go back home, to see my folks (more in these times to visit my cousin (he's hospitalised since early january because of a car accident)). And when I'm there (usually on weekend) I don,t have access to a Jedi Knight enabled computer That's my 2 cents - Beast -------------------- "Separately, woman and alcohol can be quite fun... but when you mix them, they can make you a dumbass"

QUOTE(Equanimity @ Jan 11 2004, 07:53 PM) Yeah, what ever happened to RJ thursdays? Anyways, I thought about locked servers too, although sometimes the password is a hassle to give out to everyone. Unless we keep the password the same every time. Plus, that means we have to pester Jay or Rugg to lock it up every time we want to host something. Still...if we have too many lamers and unexpected visitors, we might have to. well just so you know eq.....you can perform amvstr with the academy mod and then all you need is a preset vstr on the server cfg -------------------- |

I apologize for the long interval since the last Colloquium. There were quite a few things on my mind lately, and I neglected to set a date for the next one. However, I've also been thinking where I would like to bring the Colloquium going forward, and I need everyone's input on several issues.
Meeting times: This seems to be a big issue. Personally, because I don't have the luxury of set work hours, I cannot plan any Colloquium on the weekday (with me as the moderator) and expect that I can reliably be there. So, weekends really are the only option for me. Two questions stem from this: 1) Which is better for you? Saturday, or Sunday? 2) Would anyone be willing to moderate during a weekday? Volunteers: As I mentioned when this thing started, if one guy is doing all the talking all the time, the Colloquium dies out very fast for lack of topics to discuss. That's why it is named after a word which implies a common discourse among everyone participating. Still, since the moderator does have to prepare quite substantially, I would like to ask if anyone would be willing to take up the torch and help moderate the Colloquia. More Colloquia: I sense that there is enough demand that if we were to hold this weekly or more frequently, we can cater to different people. While this means that everyone won't make every Colloquium, this does mean that we can get more people attending. Perhaps one topic will be interesting to one person but completely boring to another. In that case, he will just not attend and wait for the next Colloquium which might hold some interest for him. Going forward: Ultimately, I would like other clans to start coming to these Colloquia, so we can share knowledge with them, and they can share knowledge with us. I've already extended an invitation to Deeznuts from the BloodHunters clan to visit one of our Colloquia when he can drop by. My intention is for the Colloquium to help raise the bar for all people involved, so hopefully everyone will get something out of it. Your thoughts? -------------------- Equanimity

QUOTE(Equanimity @ Feb 22 2004, 09:58 AM) ... if we were to hold this weekly or more frequently... Don't overburden yourself, there, buddy. We need you! I would volunteer to moderate some of these, but - as we all know - I am merely a student and probably the only RJ who needs instruction more than once a week. Bear in mind, also, that it takes a bit of time to "take it all in" and some may need more than a week (or a month or a YEAR) to "get it". I believe that settling on frequency, time and place will solve the issue of moderators. While something unforeseen may come up and planning doesn't always work out, a consistent schedule would be much easier for everyone to maintain. And, as you've indicated, no one is obligated to attend any or all of them. It will also make it easier to get those other clans/regulars involved once they learn of and expect the "Colloquia" to come around. As for PLACE, I'd like to see them all on the regular RJ server. As Deez said, it can be locked down on those occasions you need it to be very easily. Once again, it's consistent and other folks don't have to go out of their way to find it. It's just an hour - or two, depending on how late everyone is. |

Hey? where did RJ Colloquiem go? getting worried here thank the heavens is it is it?..... no?! EQ has, in one fell swoop, destroyed our only academy! the padawans have no direction, they are meliciously laming innocents and rioting on the very streets of Bespin. Who? who, will save us from this tragedy and bring back the academy? no seriously will it ever come back?

*Kick*
I am free on weekdays more often.. and, if you want EQ, I could help moderate. Of course, as you said, everyone will get their chance to speak. And, if someone just happens to want my advice, I'll say something that could or could not be helpful. So, just "gimme the wurd" if you think I'm an appropriate host for the Colloquium, and I'd be glad to help out! I could be the weekday host... tuesdays or thursdays or whatnot. -------------------- Tyrannus - Master of wit, and quite deadly with a saber. Truly a wonder.. or so the "Legend" goes.. |
