It was a good time! I'll try and keep an eye out and join in when I see people lurking about.

I think it's pretty safe to say that I'm going to need a pair of those.

I hoped on the server for a bit tonight. Ran into Ham, Infi, and my (least) favorite green alien. I signed up for that ping.php business, so the next time I see someone on, I'll be sure to be there!

QUOTE(Tyrannus @ May 9 2007, 07:21 PM)
Well, seeing as 2 hours went by and no one showed up (save for DarcWolf), I have come to the conclusion that either no one read the message, or they didn't have enough time to attend.  Regardless... simple solution: Grand Re-opening of the Colloquium this Sunday evening!  Bring your sabers, and meditate at least an hour before showing up.  I can only show up at 9 the earliest, but I WILL be there again, and waiting for you sprats.  I plan for the Colloquium to last about an hour or so, but it would be nice to see some familiar (and unfamiliar) faces.  So again, Grand Re-Opening of the  Colloquium this Sunday, May 13, starting officially at 9 pm.  I look forward to killing all of you!

Alright, I'm here! Colloq-thingy, go!

Are you sure that firewire gets used in video cameras a lot? Because most of the top-end cameras I'm looking at on newegg use USB, AV, or S-Video. Some of them do support more, though. Oh, and it does have firewire, it's onboard with my motherboard.

Your USB port count is a little skewed, as well. You have 3 USB 2.0 ports, and 2 1.1 ports that are included on your keyboard. Also, my computer had 6 USB 2.0 ports, so I don't see why I would need to add anything.

As far as wireless networking goes, I could add that in pretty cheap from the $200 I have left over..if it was actually worth it.

Also, with the computer that I had built, I would be able to easily and cheaply upgrade that thing for a very long time. How easy is it to upgrade that iMac?

And yes, you get all kinds of niftty gadgets with your new computer, but how often do you update your video blog, Rugg? From what I'm reading on Apple, that seems like the thing they're really pushing. I can't say much about the software, you do get a lot of programs bundled in with that thing. But I still maintain that you can get a lot of freeware for the PC that will do almost the exact same thing. I added a lot of things into that build that could have gone into getting a bunch of programs that I would never use.. but I would rather have a computer that will be pretty decent for a good while instead of being able to quickly update my video blog. I didn't need dual video cards, or 2 GB of RAM, or a 5.1 speaker system, and I could have lived without a mouse that has fingerprint technology.. but they're things I would be a lot more likely to use.

So many ridiculous things added on..

$100 wireless keyboard and mouse...why? I like my things plugged in, especially for that price. Wireless USB adapter? I like not having unexplained connection troubles when I play my games, thanks. TV tuner? I have a TV..why would I want this? Does anything even use firewire anymore? I'm pretty sure that everything is USB now. Detto Intellimover? Are you serious? Advanced copy and paste, woo! And my 16X drive is better than your 8X drive, too..you'll need to upgrade that. So, after getting rid of everything that was ridiculously priced.. my new price comes to $1,219, from Dell. Now, just for laughs, if I built it on my own:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13Ghz processor)(I get this game free.) A shame you can't play it on a Mac OS sad.gif
Windows Vista Home Premium
Jetway motherboard
2 GB of RAM
Dual Radeon X1600 256 MB Video cards
250 GB SATA hard drive
Keyboard + Mouse
5.1 Gaming speakers
20" LCD Monitor
16X DVD +/- RW Drive
Keyboard
And I even bought a shiny case

It comes to:
user posted image
With the $200 extra I have I could take advantage of the 16GB of RAM limit on my motherboard..

How much would a Mac like that set me back?

I will, with my 256 MB Video card, 19" Monitor, 1 GB of Ram, and 90 more GB of hard drive space. Enjoy the technological stone age. laugh.gif

He played the customised Fawlty Towers map for Counterstrike (on his PC). He listened to the Windows startup jingle every 10 minutes as his PC repeatedly rebooted itself.

That doesn't sound like an average user experience to me.. I've never had an install of XP just freeze or need to be rebooted. And I like my mouse with just two buttons and a scroll wheel please!
