I was wondering if it was possible (and how) to make a bot spectate...and stay there? You know....to be client 0.

I am not sure how it exactly goes, but the principle is to let the bot join, and then use the 'forceteams' command to force him into spec I think that it is something like /forceteam botname s
I will see if I can dig up the info. Jay has it though. the only time we ran into the issue was when a bot was on, and someone joined in a private slot.... for some reason R -------------------- Oobawanga wata chopay polah.

Isn't that command only valid in CTF mode?

OK...it works. But is the bot client 0? It is in the 1 slot.

why not just do what the [Dragon] Clan did? put the bot in as slot 0. then do /ampunish on him. then teleport him outside the map and leave him there.

OK I got it. I used the addbot command, forced the team to spectate, checked to make sure it was in slot 0 and renamed to client 0. Thanks for your help.

I want to bring this topic back up because I noticed that on some servers without any spectating bots, you definitely get the glitch associated with this bug. On our server, though, we also don't have a bot, but for some reason, the glitch isn't present. How did we manage to fix this without using a bot?

No private slots... so no one gets slot zero.

Are private slots linked to Name, IP or both?

Actually, we DO have 2 private slots -- the trick is, we're just not using them
So what happens is that the Bots always get to claim slot 0 during the map change (as they are considered private clients) and then it is never redistributed to anyone who joines as no one else ever joins private after that. Bug fixed. Now, if we ever have to use that feature in the future, we'll have to look at how to get around the glitch again. JB -------------------- Yellow Is Golden

And, so here we are at re-investigating this 'feature.'
I was thinking that it might be nice since it looks as if we're going to have to re-visit the slot 0 moment anyway, it would be nice to bring the public slots on the server back down to 16 or so and give all of the rest of us private logins (for a total of a lot .. ) For most people who have delt with 'pushing the bot outside the map,' they haven't been groups that have a map rotation like we do. This has always been our snag with handling it that way. Everytime the map changes, we start over again with the slot 0 issue, esp with private clients. For all of you brainstormers out there, I'd love to get some more thoughts on this. JB -------------------- Yellow Is Golden

can you run a script at map load?
I forget what it was, but it added a bot, and forced him to spec. -------------------- Oobawanga wata chopay polah.
