In case you missed it, Steam is beginning to publish (from what I've read) many, many of the LucasArts games:

http://store.steampowered.com/publisher/LucasArts/

... including (eventually? soon?) the JK2, JK3 series, etc. So for those of you who've "lost your disk" - NO EXCUSE!

Purcahse-able, download-able games/content, etc. as with the other "Valve" offered games through Steam. They also keep track (forever?) of what you've purchased.

So, if you purchase a game like JK2 via Steam - it downloads and installs automatically. Then, if you get a different machine down the road, you simply tell Steam to re-install the game. It won't keep track of any custom configs, etc., but you don't have to worry about losing/breaking your game CD, etc.

JB

By the way - welcome back to the land of the living.

And those of us who haven't lost our disk? (And are totally not buying game systems to play the newer stuff.) We have to trek the jungles of bot servers or search long and hard for cool (or intolerable) players to hang out with for a few in JKII.

Actually, I've only jumped in twice in probably three years myself and JKII is (understandably) a near total wasteland these days, so it's pretty typical Ronin terrain, but... did I miss something or did RJ go off the air?

Me too, Hammy.

I actually strapped on my gear and went for a wander a few nights ago. There's a (newer?) terrible mod out there many servers are running that completely changes (erm, destroys) the damage system - but it was a fun romp, none-the-less.

@Infi - on and off the air. It depends on what I've been tasking that server for lately. I can bring them up at any time. I'm hoping to find a new landing place for them soon so I can just leave them on.

Let me know if any of the 3 of you are interested in jumping back in for some nostalgia and I'll turn them back up.

I just upgraded to Windows 7. I'd actaully like to see how it runs older software like JK2. So I'm game, just set the date and I'll be there! What's the status on teamspeak? I'm guessing we dropped that a while ago.

I can get TeamSpeak back up, too if you're interested.

When's the best time to jump in? Does it matter? weekend? Weekday? Morning, noon, night?

Do you hear crickets? I hear crickets.

It occurred to me that Thursday nights used to work out pretty well, but that occurrence occurred on Thursday.... confused.gif

I think the crickets heard crickets ...

My recent problem was getting the server(s) to show up on the master list behind the latest firewall incarnation - but I may have solved that.

If anyone wants to take a dip in the pool of Jedi love, let me know.

Speaking of Steam soon being available for Mac, it now is. I've no idea when it became available for Mac or if resident and visiting Mac geeks might have discovered it, but..."well, there it is".
